A post-win operating system for residential contractors
About Contractor Authority

The system contractors use after they win the job — to keep the margin they bid.

Contractor Authority System™ is a $97 digital toolkit for 5–20 employee residential contractors. It lives in the post-win phase: pricing structure, change-order protection, proposal presentation, and the operating habits that turn a signed contract into a profitable finished job.

Why we built this

Small residential contractors do not usually lose money because they cannot find work. They lose money in the gap between "we won the bid" and "we cashed the final draw." That gap is where pricing is pulled from memory, where change orders turn into uncomfortable conversations, and where a polished competitor's proposal makes a stronger company look replaceable.

We built Contractor Authority to give that gap a structure. Not a course. Not a coaching program. A toolkit a working contractor can open on a Tuesday and use on a real job by Wednesday — so the margin in the bid is still there at closeout.

Who it's for

This is built for a specific kind of contractor — usually a 5 to 20 employee residential operation, often in HVAC, plumbing, or electrical. The crew is real, the phone rings, the trucks roll. The problem is not lead generation. The problem is what happens once a job is sold.

  • You already win work — proposals go out, jobs get signed, the schedule fills.
  • Margin is leaking somewhere — finished jobs do not feel as profitable as they should on paper.
  • Change orders feel awkward — added scope ends up undercharged or absorbed.
  • Proposals feel thin — next to an established competitor, the document does not match the quality of the actual work.

If that sounds familiar, the system was written with that exact operation in mind.

What's inside, at a glance

The toolkit is a working set, not a stack of PDFs to read. Each piece is built to be opened on a live job:

  • Profit Control Engine — labor burden, overhead, and target margin calculated the same way every time.
  • Overhead Allocation Framework — a clear way to spread real overhead across the jobs that should carry it.
  • Change Order Protection Engine — scope, math, and language ready before the awkward conversation.
  • Annual & Capacity Planner — how many jobs at what margin to hit the year's profit target.
  • Margin Leak Tracker — a place to log where jobs actually bleed, so the pattern stops being invisible.
  • Proposal Summary Export — a buyer-facing PDF presentation that looks established.
  • AI Operator Toolkit — prompts and scripts to run pricing, scope, and follow-up faster.

How it fits with BidReady

BidReady is our sister brand — a $49 bid prep PDF for contractors who want a tighter, more credible proposal going into a job. It is the entry tier.

Contractor Authority picks up after the bid is won. Same lane, same buyer, different phase of the work:

BidReady — $49

Pre-win. A bid prep PDF that helps a residential contractor walk into the proposal moment with structure and authority.

Contractor Authority — $97

Post-win. The operating system used after the contract is signed — pricing structure, change-order protection, margin tracking, proposal export.

Contractors usually start with BidReady, win cleaner, and then move into Authority to keep the margin they bid. The two were designed to sit next to each other on purpose.

Who builds it

P4 One LLC is the parent company — a New Jersey-based digital and operations studio. We build professional service brands, websites, and operating toolkits for small businesses that have outgrown duct tape and want a real system underneath the work.

The wider P4 ecosystem

Contractor Authority is one product inside a small, connected ecosystem. The other pieces are independent — pick what fits, skip what does not.

  • BidReady — the $49 bid prep PDF; sister product to this one.
  • P4 Web Studio — fast, conversion-focused websites for service businesses.
  • P4 SiteCheck — weekly informational site-health monitoring, written for owners (not developers).
  • P4 One Digital — full-service digital builds and informational accessibility reports.
  • P4 One — the parent, where every question can be routed.
